Server Guard

On-Premise protection for Windows Servers

Server Guard will keep your services safe from attackers. Hackers run automated tools 24/7 to scan IP addresses for certain services and once they locked onto a target the brute force starts. Even the strongest password can be guessed in a short amount of time if you are not protected.

✔ Protects your services like Remote Desktop, SQL Server and more.

What are Brute Force Attacks?

brute force attack uses trial-and-error to guess login information and gain access to your server (remote desktop for example) and services (sql server for example).

There are many ways to achieve this kind of attack, but the most simplest one is called dictionary attack. Hackers will have a predefined list of usernames and passwords which they will use to guess your login details.

Dictionary based attacks are often combined with proxy servers to achieve maximum effectiveness and bypass security measures.

How to prevent Brute Force Attacks?

The best solution is to use a solution like Server Guard. A security software which will monitor your Remote Desktop and other services like SQL Server for brute force attacks.

Each attacking source will be subjected to a maximum attempt limit and once that is exceeded the source is blocked from access.

Regardless of the method used or proxies, our software will detect brute force attacks.

Remote Desktop (RDP) Guard

You manage your Windows Server via Remote Desktop, the most crucial service possible. If an attacker gains access to your server via brute force, it’s game over and you lost your server.

Day to day users will restrict their Remote Desktop to specific IP’s only, but that’s not an option always. What if you have dynamic IP ? Or what if you need to access your server from another location ? The list of issues goes on.

With Server Guard you don’t have to worry about these pesky hackers that want to steal your work. You get customisable brute-force protection for your Remote Desktop service, also called RDP Guard in short.

The software will run as a service 24/7/365 and keep your Remote Desktop protected thanks to the RDP Guard engine packed in Server Guard.

As an added bonus, you can get notified every time someone tries to login with invalid details to your server.

MS-SQL Server (SQL) Guard

MS-SQL Server is very popular across Windows Server machines and it’s probably the first choice for storing data. Businesses, Games and even Banks use SQL Server as their database provider.

Depending on your project model, you might need to allow remote connections to it. The moment you do this, malicious automated scanners will discover your server and start brute-forcing your MS-SQL Server.

Thanks to Server Guard this won’t be a problem. All invalid logins and password brute-forcing attacks will be blocked automatically (based on your settings choice).

This is commonly called SQL Guard or MSSQL Guard. Your SQL Guard will run 24/7 and also notify you of every attack, IP blocked, etc.

The are no special requirements other than the below:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008/R2 or
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 or
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 or
  • Microsoft Windows Server latest
  • .NET 4.5 installed (our installer will cover this if you don’t have it)
  • Audit Logon Events (You can configure this security setting by opening the appropriate policy under Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Audit Policy and tick the box for Failures)
  • Windows Firewall enabled (required for IP address blocking/unblocking)

Please note that in order for the software to install and run successfully, it must be installed from an Administrator account. This is because the software needs to install and run a service which requires Administrator permissions.

This feature has not been added since you can block IP’s in Windows Firewall.

Can I manually whitelist an IP?

You add as many IPv4 and IPv6 IP’s into the allowed list using the software interface.

Can I use this on my personal PC?

This edition of the software is developed only for Windows Server specific editions.

Does the protection still run if I close the interface or log out?

Yes, the service will run in the background 24/7 and protect your services.

Do you offer Trials or Discounts?

Unfortunately we do not offer trials or discounts at the moment. Should this decision change, it will be posted on this page.

Does the software work with third party firewalls/antivirus?

Yes, since our software make use only of Windows Firewall it has no conflicts with third party software.

Does the software block IP’s permanently?

No, it only blocks it temporarily. There are many things to consider before deciding to block IP’s permanently, for example you could block yourself out forever from a remote machine that’s not added to the whitelist.

How does the software block attacking IP addresses?

The software make use of Windows Firewall to block IP’s. Compared to other similar software, we have optimised our ways of blocking IP’s to reduce the number of rules created and minimise server load.

How does the Licensing system work?

The license is provided on a yearly basis, and within that year you get free updates and support. Note: This is a permanent/lifetime license.

If I turn my Windows Firewall off, will the protection still work?

Yes but not properly, the software will alert you that it cannot block attacker’s IP addresses an you must enable Windows Firewall.
